There's more to do in a ski resort than just skiing and snowboarding. Even if you don't ski, there are many options for playing in the snow. In the ski resort there is a separate Kid's Park area for visitors to sled or play with the snow. The facility was originally intended for small children who cannot ski or snowboard, yet many international visitors have started visiting the Kid's Park in recent years. The Kid's Park is an ideal facility for first-time skiers before going out to the snowy mountains. So, what kind of activities are offered at Kid’s Park? While items available vary by ski resort, here are some activities offered at the Kid's Park in the Minakami Kogen Ski Resort which is situated in the Minakami area.

Kid's Park with sledding and tubing activities

The Kid's Park at Minakami Kogen Ski Resort is located next to the hotel that runs it. It's just 900 yen per person to use the park for the day, and free of charge if you've purchased a one-day lift pass. Sledding and snow tubing activities can be enjoyed in the area separate from skiing courses, making it safe for the kids. The usage fee includes rental fees for sledding and snow tubing, so there's nothing extra to pay.
Experience the exhilaration of sliding down the snow slopes. Snow tubing is thrilling because the donut-shaped tube rotates while moving downhill.

Climb up easily with the snow escalator

To save energy, use the snow escalator when climbing up the slope. The passageway moves like a belt conveyor, so you only need to stand. This effortless feature allows limitless sledding and tubing.

Enjoy many types of sleds

There are many types of sleds, including evolutionary designs with handles and brakes. The sled models shown on the photograph are, from right to left, the Zipfy, Snow Racer, Snow Rider and Ski Bockerl. These special sleds are available to rent for an additional fee. With more control over direction and speed, the sleds deliver a more exciting experience.

Sled all you want with the long course made exclusively for sledding

Sledding is prohibited on the ski runs, and is generally allowed only in the Kid's Park and other designated areas. The Minakami Kogen Ski Resort, however, has a Sled Ride Course made exclusively for sleds so you can rent sleds and enjoy downhill rides using the lift. The sled in the photograph is a Zipfy. Control your ride with the bar on the front and by transferring your weight.

Enjoy full-speed sledding with steering-wheel control!

The Snow Racer is a snow racing car invented in Sweden. Control your speed with the built-in brake, and your direction with the steering wheel. Sledding long distances with this model is truly exhilarating!
The Snow Rider is a bike-type sled. With easy handling features and agility, the sled feels fast because its center of gravity is to the rear. Braking features provide safety.

Try out many rare sleds

The Ski Bockerl is a rare type of sled made in Germany. Equipped with suspension, the sled absorbs shock even when sledding down bumpy slopes. It also makes sharp turns with its curving ski board attached, and rides very fast once you get used to handling it. Experience new sensations with this sled by racing down the slopes, rolling with the snow, and enjoying contact with snow.
